Students will create a superhero that has the characteristics of one of the seven rays on the electromagnetic radiation spectrum. In doing so, students will discover the advantages and disadvantages of those rays.
Before beginning the activity below, create a class sign-up sheet using the Choose Your Superhero handout attached to the lesson in LEARN. Once you create a sign-up sheet, keep the digital link handy. You will distribute this link to students and have them sign up for a superhero. If you prefer, you can upload the attached version of the Choose Your Superhero sheet to Google Docs and share it with students.
Insert a link to your class sign-up sheet into the student Explore activity page.
Have students sign up for their superhero using the sign-up sheet link. After students submit their drawing and write up, review and provide positive feedback and correction of their work, if needed, before it is shared with the class.
Students are instructed to upload their superhero assignments to the Explore activity page. The submission type is configured to allow online submission and provides students with the option to upload a file or submit the document by sharing a URL. Students may upload a variety of file types, but if you prefer a specific file type, you may update the assignment settings.
