Swivl is a tool that you will use for your observations in the second, third, and fourth quarter of the upcoming school year. This short video shows how Swivl can be used to help teachers with reflective practice and coaching.
Swivl consists of three main parts:
The Swivl robot, which is used to record video. The robot "swivels" to follow the signal of a remote device that can be worn around the neck or carried so that the camera always focuses on where the action is happening. Your school will receive one robot to be shared amongst all ADEPT Live, ADEPT Badge, and microcredentialing participants at your site.
The Swivl Capture app, which will be installed on a tablet provided with your school's Swivl robot. If you have a school-issued iPad or tablet, you may prefer to use it to record your observations. If so, you will need to download the Capture app on your device.
Note: while you are welcome to download the Capture app on your personal device (such as your phone or a personal tablet), for privacy reasons please do not record your observations on a personal device.
Swivl's Reflectivity platform, which is used to securely upload and store videos, share videos with others--including your ADEPT Instructional Coach--and share comments on videos. Reflectivity is FERPA and COPPA compliant.
For this module, we will focus only on the Capture app and the Reflectivity platform. You will have an opportunity to explore a Swivl robot at the ADEPT workshop and follow-up support will be available from the GEAR UP for LIFE team throughout the school year.
