Goblin Tools
A free Artificial Intelligence (AI) tool designed for neurodivergent students, such as those with ADHD, to help organize their thoughts and actions around tasks and assignments.
Goblin Tools
Summary
Students who identify as neurodivergent sometimes have trouble staying organized and finishing tasks. Unlike other task tracking apps, GoblinTools has a simple design where each tab has just one action to avoid any overstimulation. There are several ways students can use this tool to help with classroom social skills and assignments. For one, students can type in their message and AI can help transfer their words into more genre/social context appropriate texts, like “Less Snarky.” Another example is that students can have a text or concept broken down with an explanation and example to help with comprehension.
This tool can be used for classroom management purposes for any subject and grade level. The website version is free of charge, but there is a charge for the app.
Note: Chatbots can misinterpret information, present bias, and/or plagiarize the work of others. Always check the validity and originality of the content gleaned from a chatbot source.
Procedure
Ask students to access https://goblin.tools/ and that’s it! No need to set up an account.
Ask students to select “Magic ToDo” to create a list of tasks. They can use the number of chili peppers to the right to specify how much of a “breakdown” they will need. On the right of the task drop-down menu, students can select “Estimate” and have the AI bot provide estimated times for each task. Students can also select “Add Subtask” to create their own subtask(s). Next to each subtask is a blue icon that the AI bot can break down into further subtasks.
Ask students to select “Judge” to help identify the tone of a text or conversation. Once they type their text in the space provided, ask them to select “Judge” or “Suggest a response” to see either an explanation of the possible tonal meaning or a suggested response. Students can also add the reply they gave and have that judged too.
Ask students to select “Compiler” to have AI create a list of tasks based on a brain dump of thoughts. They can then have these tasks sent to the Magic ToDo tab.
Additionally, there are other tools such as a “Formalizer,” “Professor,” and "Estimator.” There is even “The Chef,” which, while not relevant for school, may still be helpful for users at home. Check out the website for more details.
