SchoolAI is a web application that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) to provide a range of features aimed at improving learning outcomes and streamlining administrative tasks. The app is free with limitations.

Summary

SchoolAI can help the teacher as an educator resource, but it also can be used by students for differentiated learning. While SchoolAI is similar to other classroom management apps in that it provides aid in creating lesson plans, word problems, rubrics, etc., with SchoolAI you can also create a “space” for your students that provides scope to the world of AI. In this space you can assign specific AI tutors or historical figures for students to “interview,” where they learn what you instruct the AI bots to tell them.

Another helpful feature with SchoolAI is that students don’t need to create an account, meaning you don’t have to worry about the app collecting student data. There is a daily usage limit of 70 users per day, so you may want to have students work in groups.

Note: Chatbots can misinterpret information, present bias, and/or plagiarize the work of others. Always check the validity and originality of the content gleaned from a chatbot source.

Procedure

  1. Go to https://app.schoolai.com/

  2. Sign up for a free account, or log in if you already have one.

  3. Explore the Spaces, Tools, and/or Assistants tabs to find what you need. For example, under “Spaces” select “Discover” and see what other users have already created. The history collections are great for having students talk to simulated historical figures.

  4. Spaces: Create custom chatbots or “Spaces” for your class using educator-selected instructions and text. This allows student choice but within a defined scope. The chatbots are also programmed to redirect conversations.

  5. Career Exploration: Along with letting students talk with historical figures, you can also have students chat with professionals in the careers they aspire to. Under the “Discover” tab scroll down to “Featured Experiences” then click on “Explore Exciting Careers.”

  6. Data Analytics: Each of the spaces you create has a feature where a bot is collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data on student learning for you. For example, under “Group Students” you can see how the AI has grouped students based on their levels of understanding of the topic. The AI will also provide suggestions on what topics you may consider reviewing.
