Duolingo is a free language-learning platform that uses gamified lessons to help users build vocabulary, grammar, and conversation skills in over 40 languages.

Summary
Duolingo offers interactive, bite-sized lessons for students to practice reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the target language. Duolingo features a playful design with challenges, adventures, and learning streak rewards that make learning feel like a game. Teachers can use this resource in the classroom as a supplemental language learning tool by creating a Duolingo Classroom where they assign lessons and track student progress.
Procedure
TEACHER CLASSROOM SETUP
Go to https://schools.duolingo.com/ and click on “Get Started.”
Create an account with the required information or sign in with Google.
Name your new classroom.
Select the language your students will be learning as well as the language you would like used for course instructions.
Click on “Add Students”
Copy the classroom join code link into your school’s LMS or display the 6-digit code for students to type into their account.
Click on “Create Assignments” to choose the details and due date of your assignment.
STUDENT LOGIN - Desktop
Go to https://www.duolingo.com/ and click “Get Started.”
Select the language you want to learn and answer the questions about your learning goals and current skill level in the target language.
Start the course from scratch OR take the aptitude test to discover the best place for you to start on your learning path.
Once you finish either the first lesson or the placement test, you will receive the option to “Create an Account.”
Enter your name, age, and email address to create your account.
Open a new tab and check your email for a link to confirm your account.
Return to the Duolingo tab and Click the X in the upper lefthand corner of the screen to access your Duolingo dashboard and complete more lessons.
JOIN CLASSROOM
On the left side of the dashboard page, hover over “More” and select “Settings.”
On the right side of the screen click on “Duolingo for Schools.”
Enter the classroom code provided by the teacher.
