Wipeout
In this strategy, students use white boards to respond to classroom prompts in a nonverbal format. White boards can be used to practice, respond, work together, and guide conversation.
Wipeout
Summary
Students work independently or in groups to respond to a prompt given by the teacher. The teacher can choose a variety of methods to share the responses with the group such as holding up the whiteboard, choosing a single whiteboard to show the class, or asking students to walk around the room and discuss with students what is written on the board. This strategy provides a nonverbal way for students to construct knowledge and have meaningful conversations. Consider using either physical whiteboards or digital whiteboards for students to use.
Procedure
1. Determine the topic of focus and share it with students.
2. Have students use their whiteboard and erasable marker to respond to the prompt.
3. Decide the procedure for students sharing their work with the class.
4. Allow students to share out their work with a preselected group so the students can understand the thoughts of the class.
