Quick Draw
Students develop spatial reasoning as they recreate an image from memory in this strategy.
Quick Draw
Summary
Students recreate a simple image from memory then discuss what they saw and how they drew the image. This helps students grow accustomed to describing their thinking in class and increases their spatial awareness through practice.
Procedure
Display a simple line drawing to students for 3 seconds. Students should only observe the drawing at this time.
Remove the image and have students recreate it on their paper. Give students 1–2 minutes to recreate the drawing.
Show the drawing for another 3 seconds and allow students to revise their drawing.
Show the drawing again.
Ask students what they see in the image. Have students share and encourage multiple interpretations.
Ask students how they drew the figure—what they drew first, second, and so on. Have several students share their strategies.
