Web of Connections
The activity uses string to create a web that shows group connections by highlighting commonalities among participants.
Web of Connections
Summary
This activity visually illustrates how individuals are interconnected through shared experiences, traits, or interests. This interactive and simple exercise encourages active listening and helps build a sense of group identity.
Procedure
All students stand in a large circle.
One person starts by holding the string and tells the group a few facts about themself (e.g. speaks multiple languages, is an only child, left-handed, etc.).
When someone in the group hears something that relates to them, they say, "Me too."
The first person holds one end of the string and tosses the string ball to the other person.
That person repeats steps #2-4.
Continue until everyone in the group has a part of the string.
The cobweb of string is a visual metaphor to show the numerous commonalities of everyone.
