Chant It, Sing It, Rap It

Summary

Students identify the important concepts of a subject and compose a chant, song, or rap to teach it to others in a fun way.

Procedure

  1. Group students into teams of three or four and provide them with content or a subject.

  2. Each teammate helps identify all the important concepts related to the content or subject (teams may choose to write these down).

  3. Teams come up with a chant, song, or rap about the content. They may also choose to snap, clap, stomp, or tap to accompany their creation. If necessary, you could provide them with songs to model their own after (e.g., "Mary Had a Little Lamb," "Row Row Row Your Boat," etc.).

  4. To close the activity, teams preform their chant, song, or rap.
