Two-Minute Paper

Students reflect upon their learning experiences and provide meaningful feedback for the teacher though this writing exercise.

Two-Minute Paper

Summary

On a piece of paper, students answer one or two questions about their experiences during a unit of instruction and turn their responses in. This strategy can be used at the beginning of one day to reflect upon the previous day’s lesson or at the end of the day to evaluate that day's learning experience. (The procedure below outlines an end-of-day activity.)

Procedure

  1. Display one or two questions for students regarding their learning experience.

  2. Give participants two minutes to write their responses.

  3. Collect the papers.

  4. Analyze their responses and share the results with the participants the next day, letting them know how you anticipate using their feedback.
