Quiz, Quiz, Trade
Summary
Quiz, Quiz, Trade is a simple, collaborative strategy that encourages students to review information together by asking and answering questions.
Procedure
Give each student flashcards related to the current unit. On one side, write a question or vocabulary term, and on the other side, provide the answer or definition.
Students should use a stand up, hands up, pair up, or similar technique to find a partner.
Have Partner A show Partner B the question on their flashcard. Partner B should respond.
Have Partner A praise Partner B for a correct answer or provide guidance for an incorrect answer.
Have partners switch roles and repeat steps 3–4.
Once the pair has finished both questions, have partners thank each other, exchange flashcards, and raise their hands to find new partners.
Repeat steps 3–6 until time is up.
Finally, gather the students together as a whole class. Facilitate a discussion by asking students to share interesting insights, connections, or questions that emerged during the activity.
Modifications:
Consider using multimedia resources or visual aids to enhance this activity if introducing a new topic.
Use Quiz, Quiz, Trade as an icebreaker for students by focusing the questions on personal interests. For example, “What is your favorite book?”
