DOK Question Stems
Summary
Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK) Question Stems enable participants to intentionally create questions that progress from recall and recognition to critical and strategic thinking.
Procedure
Have students read a piece of text.
Pass out Webb’s question stem sheet. This can be found online by searching for DOK stems or Webb's question stems.
Have students create at least one or two questions each from levels one, two, and three of the question stems.
When students have finished creating questions, divide the class in half.
Have the two groups take turns quizzing each other with the questions they created.
Note: A downloadable Webb’s DOK question stems sheet can be found here.
