Summary

BandLab for Education is a 100% free online, browser-based Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) that holds a vast number of Virtual Studio Technology instruments (VSTi) and loop libraries that students and teachers can use for free. Additionally, it allows for class management features like assignments, messaging, and grading.

Procedure

  1. Go to edu.bandlab.com.

  2. Click on the blue button that says, "Start as a Teacher."

  3. Select "Continue with Google" if your school email is a Gmail account. If not, fill out the respective information requested.

  4. BandLab will ask you to complete your profile. Add a photo of yourself so that your students know they are joining the right class. It will also ask you to make a username. Picking something easy to remember will also help students find your class.

  5. The introduction will show you how to access the code and invite students to your class, how to make a school for your classes, and where to find your files, notifications, and messages.

  6. Click "Create School" and enter the school address and phone number.

  7. BandLab will then show you how to add and switch between schools and to create and find classes.

  8. Click the "Create Class" button at the top of the screen. It will prompt you to enter a name and description that you and your students can see.

  9. Click the red "New Assignment" button. It will ask for a title and deadline.

  10. Click the green "Invite" button to invite students to the class. You will be given a class code, an invite link, and an option to manually add students.

  11. Once these steps are completed, you can use this lesson in your class.
